Questions to Guide your Efforts to Integrate the Material

  1. Why should you learn about more than one therapeutic approach?

  2. There are a variety of approaches to integrating the material from the course. How do these approaches differ?

  3. Why might you act differently with different clients? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this? How does the therapist's attitudes affect the client's process of making change?

  4. People have different attitudes about change at different points in their life. How do our attitudes about change affect our ability to make change? If you were a therapist working with clients with different attitudes about making change, would you work with them differently? If so, how?

  5. Think about the difficulties you may (or may not) have had this semester in learning the basic therapeutic skills and concepts. Are these "normal"? How should students who've had difficulties react to these?
