Throughout this unit we are talking about ways to transform our
lives. Rather than having only stress, we aim to cope. Rather
than only getting by, we hope to thrive. In line with these ideas,
we are going to be thinking about what we can do to create a beautiful
day, something we have the ability to do each day of our lives. Myers
(2001), in particular, should help you begin to think about ways to create
your own beautiful day.
Keep in mind that your beautiful day should be something you can do. It should not be something that others do for you, but something that you can create for yourself. Furthermore, it should be realistic (e.g., "spend the day quietly with the people I love, playing board games and drinking tea," rather than "win the lottery and go to Paris").
If possible, take a picture of yourself during your beautiful day, if not, draw one or make a collage to describe your day. Then, write a description of your beautiful day on an index card. We will tack them on a bulletin board to lead our class discussion.
