You should know the effectiveness rate, advantages
and disadvantages, how best to use each method for maximum effectiveness,
and why conception is prevented for each of the following birth control
methods:

Condoms

Intrauterine Device (IUD)

Natural Family Planning

Post-Coital (Morning after) Contraception
Additionally, you should be able to answer the following:

What are some factors that need to be considered when
choosing a birth control method?

What is outercourse?

What hormones are contained in the combination pill? the
mini (progestin-only) pill? the multiphasic pill? How do each of these
types of birth control pills prevent pregnancy?

Compare and contrast the cervical cap and diaphragm. Why
are there two birth control methods that are so similar on the market?

When does the diaphragm need to be replaced?

What are the differences between latex and natural membrane
condoms? Which are better to use to decrease the chances of contracting
STDs?

What are the differences between lubricated and non-lubricated
condoms? Which are less likely to break?

What are the differences between ribbed and non-ribbed
condoms? Does one provide additional stiumulation?

What are the differences between plain ended and special
receptacle ended condoms?

Why was the IUD pulled off the market for a period of
time? How do the new IUDs differ from the old types?

Describe how the mucus (or ovulation or Billings) method
of birth control works, including the changes in the cervical mucus that
occur in different parts of the menstrual cycle.

Describe the Calendar (or Rhythm) method of birth control.
What is the formula used to determine “high risk” days?

Describe the Basal Body Temperature method of birth control.
Why is it better to think of this a method that can help increase chances
of conception instead of a birth control method?

Why are the following methods NOT really forms of birth
control: nursing (breast feeding), withdrawl, douching.

Describe the steriliation procedures for males and females.

Know the different methods used for abortions and the
time frames in which they are used.
