American Psychological Association
Based in Washington, DC, the American Psychological Association (APA) is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychology in the United States. With 150,000 members, APA is the largest association of psychologists worldwide.
The objects of the American Psychological Association shall be to advance psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting health, education, and human welfare by; the encouragement of psychology in all its branches in the broadest and most liberal manner, the promotion of research in psychology and the improvement of research methods and conditions, the improvement of the qualifications and usefulness of psychologists through high standards of ethics, conduct, education, and achievement, the establishment and maintenance of the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct of the members of the Association, the increase and diffusion of psychological knowledge through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions, and publications; thereby to advance scientific interests and inquiry, and the application of research findings to the promotion of health, education, and the public welfare.
SCRA (APA Div. 27)
The Society for Community Research and Action -SCRA, Division 27 of the American Psychological Association, serves many different disciplines that focus on community research and action. Our members are committed to promoting health and empowerment and to preventing problems in communities, groups, and individuals.
SPW (APA Div. 35)
The Society for the Psychology of Women -SPW Division 35 of the American Psychological Association, provides an organizational base for all feminists, women and men of all national origins, who are interested in teaching, research, or practice in the psychology of women. The division recognizes a diversity of women's experiences which result from a variety of factors, including ethnicity, culture, language, socioeconomic status, age, and sexual orientation. The division promotes feminist research, theories, education, and practice toward understanding and improving the lives of girls and women in all their diversities; encourages scholarship on the social construction of gender relations across multicultural contexts; applies its scholarship to transforming the knowledge base of psychology; advocates action toward public policies that advance equality and social justice; and seeks to empower women in community, national, and global leadership.
Focus on our Future Collaborative Board
The Venango County Focus on our Future Collaborative Board...is a prevention oriented collaborative partnership among individuals, parents, families, children, organizations, businesses, and schools that work together to improve outcomes for children, youth and families in Venango County.
It's two-fold purpose is to...develop, implement, and evaluate prevention services that are designed to improve outcomes for children and families in Venango County, and to recommend direction to state directed and other initiatives that require community-wide collaboration as a condition of funding.
Venango Training and Development Center
VTDC currently contracts to provide a multitude of rehabilitative, day programs with the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Administrations in Venango, Forest, Clarion, Crawford, Clearfield and Jefferson Counties, as well as, the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Blind and Visual Services and Oil City, Franklin, Titusville, Valley Grove, Cranberry, PENNCREST and DuBois School Districts. In addition, the Center contracts with both the Northwest and North Central Work Force Investment Youth Councils.
